Sambaa K’e Development Corporation (SKDC) is seeking a corporation manager who will be responsible for the successful operation of the corporation’s ventures which include, but are not limited to: winter road construction, tourism lodge management promotion, general contracting, and a small retail operation.
Description
• Function as a leader and team member and motivate personnel.
• Ensure the effective management of current human, financial, and physical resources.
• Maintain financial and administrative controls, formulate and approve promotional campaigns, and approve overall human resources planning.
• Select employees, contractors and others; delegate the necessary authority to them to create optimum working conditions.
• Represent SKDC in negotiations or at other official functions.
• Prepares submissions, applications, and/or proposals to develop business opportunities.
• Report to and work with the SKDC Board.
Requirements
• Completion of post-secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field, with a strong community economic development focus.
• Proficiency with Simply Accounting, Microsoft Office, and Internet.
• Substantial practical experience in small to medium sized First Nation or related enterprise management.
• Understanding of business challenges in a northern environment.
• Excellent financial management and communication skills are essential requirements of this position.
Terms
• Able to live in a remote community.
• Able to travel frequently, often by small aircraft.
• Must possess a valid NWT Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.
• Must pass a criminal records check.
